Cairo, Jan 30 (Agencies): Over 10 protesters died in clashes with police near the Egyptian Interior Ministry building in Cairo early on Sunday, RIA Novosti said quoting Al Jazeera.

The crowd of protestors was trying to storm the building, located in the centre of the Egyptian capital, forcing police to open fire, the TV channel Al Jazeera reported.

In the Faiyum Governorate, an administrative division, situated about 130 km to the southwest of Cairo, unknown gunmen shot dead the head of a local prison, freeing several hundred prisoners, the report stated on Sunday.

Anti-government protests continued for the fifth day on Saturday in Egypt with tens of thousands demanding President Hosni Mubarak step down after three decades in power.

Earlier, Al Jazeera said about 100 people had been killed in clashes with police in Cairo and other Egyptian cities.
