Kalikho Pul became the chief minister with the support of 11 BJP legislators for a brief period between February and July this year after he rebelled against the Nabam Tuki government of the Congress.

Initial reports suggest that he was suffering from depression.

1. Kalikho Pul was born on July 20, 1969 to Tailum Pul and Koranlu Pul at Walla Village of Anjaw district of Arunachal Pradesh.

2. He began his political career in 1995 when he was elected as an MLA from Hayuliang constituency from where he won five consecutive terms.

3. He was the executive member of Arunachal Pradesh Congress Committee for 13 years and Pradesh Election Committee member for 7 years.

4. He is the longest serving finance minister of the state under various chief ministers, including Gegong Apang, Mukut Mithi and Dorjee Khandu.

5. He served as minister of state for power, finance and land management and Cabinet minister for health and finance and planning, RWD, taxation, fisheries and law & justice and women and child development, social justice, empowerment and tribal affairs.

6. He rebelled against the Congress party in 2015 and led a revolt against then-chief minister Nabam Tuki.

7. He became the acting chief minister of Arunachal Pradesh on February 19, 2016 with the backing of the Bharatiya Janata Party.

8. He held the post till July when the Supreme Court restored former chief minister Nabam Tuki's Congress government in the state.

9. He was popularly known as people's chief minister.

10.  He was survived by three wives and four children.
