Rishikesh: A bus en-route Pokhari-Haridwar was trapped after water of river Bin swelled between Rishikesh-Chilla. It was a near death like situation for the 10-odd passengers who were inside the bus. They were later on rescued by Lakshman jhoola police with the help of a tractor.

A private bus carrying people from Rishikesh to Haridwar got trapped at 4.30 pm when there was a sudden surge in river water on Sunday en-route Chilla-Haridwar.

The driver could not decide whether to apply back gear on the bus or move it forward.

After sensing danger, passengers raised a hue and cry. Chilla police station sent an SOS to Lakshman jhula police station and Amarjit Singh in- charge of the Lakshman jhula police station reached the site with the rescue team.

After an ordeal of 45 minutes, passengers were taken out of the vehicle safely. The vehicle, however, still remains trapped in the river water.
