Kolakata: More than 100 girls fell ill after consuming mid-day meal served at Shivrampur Girls High School, South 24 Parganas district, Kolkata on Wednesday.

Sources stated that the girls fell ill after having a non-vegetarian meal in the institution. The students complained of vomiting and uneasiness after having their lunch served in the school. With the deterioration in their health condition, the students were immediately rushed to the Maheshtalla Matra Sadan hospital and Behla Vidysagar Hospital.

As per the information, as many as 110 girls visited hospital till late in the evening. Many girls are still admitted in the hospital. Local police has registered a case in this regard and are investigating the incidence.

Chairman, Maheshtalla Nagar Palika, Dulal Das said: “Girls are responding to treatment and their condition is stable. Many girls have been discharged from the hospital."

He said that the authorities will probe into the matter and stern action will be taken against the guilty.
