Chandigarh: The Haryana government has empanelled 12 banks for disbursement of pension through e-pension system. (Agencies)
While stating this in Chandigarh on Thursday, an official spokesperson said the empanelled banks included State Bank of India, Punjab National Bank, Central Bank of India, Syndicate Bank, IDBI Bank, Union Bank of India, State Bank of Patiala, Bank of Baroda, ICICI Bank, HDFC Bank, Axis Bank and Bank of India.
He said the pensioner or family pensioner would be free to opt for any of these empanelled banks for having their pension or family pension account. He added that the bank account would be a saving account operated singly by the account holder. However, it would not be allowed to be operated upon by another person by virtue of a power of attorney executed in his favour.
The Joint account of the pensioner would be operated subject to the terms and conditions as per the Finance Department. Such facility of having joint account would not be available in case of family pension, he added.
He said that a certificate in the regard from the bank branch would be required to be submitted by the pensioner to the Treasury Officer at the time of presenting his pension claim for the first time. Similar certificate would be required if there would be any change in bank details in future, he added.
