Mumbai: The Maharashtra Anti-terrorist squad has arrested Kanwar Pathreja from Chandni Chowk area of Delhi, the main Hawala operator who supplied Rs 10 lakh to Indian Mujahideen terrorist Yasin Bhatkal to carry out the 13/7 Mumbai serial blasts. Pathreja who was arrested on Monday runs a jewellery shop in Chandni Chowk.

Considering Pathreja's arrest as a crucial development in the case, ATS can now find out that on whose behest did Pathreja give the amount to Yasin Bhatkal. ATS Chief, Rakesh Maria last week had informed the media about the total expenses made in carrying out the blast to be Rs 10 Lakh.

According to information, one of the two arrested persons by the ATS, Nadeem Sheikh was called to Delhi by Yasin Bhatkal, who gave him Rs 2 lakh to arrange for a rented-house in Mumbai.

Even after seven months of the triple blast that rocked Mumbai, the Maharashtra ATS could not achieve any breakthrough until the arrest of Naki Ahmed and Nadeem Sheikh last week. After the arrests, Maria clarified that the money used to carry out the blasts were transferred through the Hawala operators.

Meanwhile, the police with the help of Pathreja are trying to locate the main persons involved in funding the blasts.
