New Delhi: Under the Chacha Nehru Sehat Yojana, around 14 lakh government school children will get free health check-up and medical treatment. The scheme is for school children up to 14 years.

Health Minister of Delhi Dr AK Walia said that the scheme will be launched from November 14 and all formalities have been fulfilled in this regard.

Notably, Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit had announced the launch of this scheme while presenting the budget for 2011-12. Around Rs 100 crore have been earmarked in this budget under the scheme.

“The Chief Minister has instructed to launch this scheme in coordination with health and education departments. The main objective of this scheme is to start a diagnosis of the disease after the symptoms are identified in students,” said Dr Walia.

This ambitious scheme will be rolled out in 100 government schools and will be expanded to 954 schools in a phased manner.
Around 117 teams will be constituted to implement this scheme for 14 lakh school children. Every team will comprise a doctor, nurse as well as a computer data operator.

Every team will conduct health check-up of 60 children in a day .

Dr Walia added that free distribution of medicines including immunization will also take place on this occasion.
