The fire started in one stall and spread quickly to others and engulfed all the 16 stalls in the market last evening, a police officer said. Around 10 motorcycles were also burnt in the incident.

However, there was no loss of life or injury reported in the incident, the officer said. The stalls were set up to sell firecrackers for Diwali.

A case has been registered and investigations are underway, the police officer said. "We are yet to ascertain the total value of the damages caused in the incident," he said.
