Sheikhpura: Acting on a tip off, Bihar Police on Saturday seized 16.5 tonne of ammonium nitrate by mining department officials from Pachna village in Bihar's Sheikhpura district.

Deputy development commissioner and district mining officer GK Pramhans said the police raided a house and sized 330 bags of explosives weighing about 16.5 tonne.

According to Pramhans, the seized explosive was suspected to be used for mining purposes. The estimated value of the seized explosive is Rs 11 lakh.

However, the police failed to arrest anyone in the case. The house owner somehow managed to escape during the raid.
