"Jammu and Kashmir has always been worst victim of Indo-Pak hostility and its people have been paying a colossal price for same for past over 6 decades,"  Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti said.

"Heartfelt condolences to bereaved families and also pray for early recovery of those injured in the attack," the chief minister. "Strongly condemn Uri attack. Attack seems to be aimed at triggering fresh violence and creating a war-like situation in the region," she stated.

After high level meeting with senior officers, Home Minister Rajnath Singh, tweeted "I am deeply disappointed with Pakistan’s continued and direct support to terrorism and terrorist groups." "There are definite and conclusive indications that the perpetrators of Uri attack were highly trained, heavily armed and specially equipped. Pakistan is a terrorist state and it should be identified and isolated as such," the Home Minister mentioned.

"My heartfelt condolences to the families of the martyred soldiers. Those behind this terror incident would be brought to justice.
Deeply distressed at the terror incident in Uri and the loss of 17 brave soldiers martyred. I pray for the speedy recovery of the injured," he added.


"We strongly condemn the cowardly terror attack in Uri. I assure the nation that those behind this despicable attack will not go unpunished," Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on Uri terror attack.



Army Chief General Dalbir Singh reached Srinagar and he will meet soldiers injured in Uri attack.

"We condemn the attack. Our condolence to the family of the soldiers who have lost their lives," Congress leader Jitendra Singh.

Government should stop the diplomacy of 'sarees', 'biryanis', sweets and shawls, they should send a hard hitting message to them (Pakistan) instead," he added.

An alert has been sounded in Jammu and Kashmir and Punjab after terrorist attack in Uri, extra vigil along the international border.


"Ministry of Home Affairs and Defence Ministry have taken this very seriously. We won’t tolerate this," MoS for Defence Subhash Bhamre.

Uri Camp Attack: 17 Jawans Martyred In Kashmir Terror Attack, Reactions Pour In

"Unfortunately our 17 soldiers lost their lives, 4 terrorists killed. Firing stopped after 8 am. It is believed that all the terrorists have been neutralised. Attack took place at the administrative section," the Union Minister added. "Fire broke out in the tents and building because of the firing," he cited.

Home Minister Rajnath Singh has briefed Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Uri attack.

Giving his first reaction on Uri attack, Jammu and Kashmir Deputy Chief Minister Nirmal Kumar Singh said this is a big conspiracy against India and separatists, terrorists, Pakistan part of the conspiracy, to create tension in our areas.

Defence Minister To Visit Uri On Sunday

Defence Minister Parrikar to visit Kashmir in the wake of terror attack in Uri.

"We are with the forces, the protectors of our nation who keep it united," Former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad said on Uri attack.

Colonel SD Goswami, spokesman of the army's Udhampur headquartered Northern Command told IANS, "Four terrorists who had entered the rear base camp of an infantry battalion in Uri town were killed," adding "search operation was continuing inside the camp".

The fidayeen (suicide) militants had entered the camp around 5.30 am. Defence sources told reporters  that six soldiers were also injured in the attack who were airlifted to an army hospital in Srinagar.


"Terrorists attacked the rear base camp of an infantry battalion and not the headquarters of 12 Brigade in Uri today (Sunday) morning which is posted on the Line of Control (LoC)," the sources added.

Rajnath Singh Calls An Emergency Meeting

In New Delhi, Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh is reported to have cancelled his visit to Russia and the US He has called for a high-level meeting on Sunday to discuss the situation is Kashmir.

The Home Minister spoke to Governor Narinder Nath Vohra and Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti on Uri terror attack and they apprised him of security situation in the state. Rajnath Singh also instructed home secretary and other senior officers in Ministry of Home Affairs to closely monitor the situation in Uri.

The Police said terrorists, whom number and identity was yet unknown, attacked the headquarters and gunfight is underway. According to news agency ANI, 3 to 4 terrorists were attack the army camp.
