Kanpur: Lashing out at the Congress for adopting caste-based politics, Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M) general secretary Prakash Karat said that the party will face Bihar like situation in the upcoming Uttar Pradesh polls.

While talking to reporters here he said, “No matter how much Rahul and Priyanka endeavour, the public has lost trust in the Congress. Their efforts will not yield any result and the Congress will meet with a fate similar to that of Bihar Assembly polls. And only an effective Jan Lokpal Bill can bring this trust back.”

“Left parties supported the Congress only to keep the BJP out of power, but when the former failed to meet the expectations we broke the all ties,” he added.

“Caste division has weakened the society but now people have become wise. Not indulging in caste-based politics, the CPI-M will raise issues like land acquisition, inflation, corruption etc and field candidates for 70 seats in the 2012 UP polls,” said Karat.
