The year began with Congress hosting its ‘Chintan Shivir’ in Jaipur where Rahul Gandhi was anointed as Vice-President and formally elevated to the number two position in the party. But as the year came to a close, the party had little to cheer.

The Rajasthan High Court stayed the decision for giving four percent additional reservation to Gujjars and four other communities as it was more than the Supreme Court's stipulated 50 percent limit.

On economic front, the state showed revenue surplus and the distribution of taxes from the Centre’s share increased substantially in the last couple of years.
