Students can start registering for CAT 2014 from 10 am on August 6 and the registration process will continue till midnight of September 30.

The CAT exam will take place in four sessions on November 16 and November 22 at 354 testing sites, spreading across 99 cities.

Students will also have registration options for the new IIMs announced at Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Odisha, Bihar, Andhra Pradesh and Maharashtra, according to an announcement on the CAT 2014 IIMs website. These new institutes are expected to start their academic session from the year 2015-2016.

The dates and the candidate’s favored city will be allotted by the CAT centre on an arbitrary basis.

Several changes in exam pattern

There were few other changes too in the exam pattern this year, according to the CAT notification that was announced few days back.

The exam duration has been increased to two hours fifty minutes from the usual two hours twenty minutes.

The number of questions in each section – Quantitative Ability and Data Interpretation, Verbal Ability and Logical Reasoning – has also gone up to 50 from the existing 30.

In another major change, the IIMs have put an end to the option of buying offline vouchers and the students would need to pay for the registration online only.
