Bhopal: As many as 227 out of total of 228 members of the Madhya Pradesh Assembly cast their votes on Thursday for the presidential election.Principal Secretary for the state Assembly, Rajkumar Pandey, who is the returning officer for the elections, told reporters that only Nagendra Singh of BJP had not cast his vote.

The state Assembly has a total strength of 230 but the membership of two Congress legislators - Choudhary Rakesh Singh Chaturvedi and Kalpana Parulekar was terminated on Thursday.

Pandey said Assembly Speaker Ishwardas Rohani was the first to cast his vote and was followed by Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan and others. He said among the Congress members, Imarti Bai was the first to cast the vote.

BJP general secretary Narendra Singh Tomar, who is an MP from Madhya Pradesh, also cast his vote on Thursday, he said.
