Bhopal: The maiden Haj flight with 230 pilgrims on board from Bhopal, left for the holy city of Mecca-Madina from the Raja Bhoj International Airport here.

The Air India flight number AI-5196 left Bhopal at about 1400 hours for Jeddah, in the presence of large number of relatives, the executive officer, Haj Committee, Dawood Ahmad Khan told reporters.

The pilgrims boarded the flight after a grand Dua (prayer) for a peaceful and safe Haj was conducted by the Shahar Qazi Bhopal, Syed Mushtaque Ali Nadvi.

Senior BJP and Congress leaders including MP BJP President, Prabhat Jha, Madhya Pradesh Minority Commission Chairman, Anwar Mohd Khan, Haj Committee Chairman, Sanawwar Patel, Congress leader P C Sharma were also present on the occasion at the airport.

Emotional scenes were also witnessed at the transit point near Tajul Masajid and airport where a large number of relatives and friends had gathered to bid adieu to the Hajis.
