Online OPD registration system was started on May 27. It is expected that the patients may use the online OPD card for treatment from Monday.

However, Delhi government’s super-specialty hospitals, like GB Pant, Delhi State Cancer Institute and Rajiv Gandhi super-specialty hospital at Tahirpur are not allowed to provide such facility.

Though Tahirpur super-specialty hospital is yet to get operational fully, it provides OPD facility to the patients.

The doctors are of view that GB Pant Hospital is a referral hospital. If the online facility of OPD cards is made available here, GB Pant will flood with patients, they said.

The facility is, however, available in government hospitals such as Jayaprakash Narayan, GTB, DDU, Ambedkar, Delhi Sanjay Gandhi Memorial etc.

How to make online OPD cards?

It is important to make a log-in ID on the Delhi government’s Health Department website. Every online OPD card will get a unique number. It will also be easier for the hospital management to keep a track record of patients.

Everyday 100 cards can be made online for each department. It is not necessary to make the OPD card online only on the same day the patient has to undergo check-up. The card can also be made 15 days before.

It is reported that about two to four thousand patients arrive in the hospitals’ OPD wards everyday in the national capital.

This resulted in patients and attendants to stand in long queues for hours. With this online facility of OPD cards, patients can now breathe a sigh of relief.
