Bhatinda: The Railway police on Friday registered case against the 250 farmers on charges of obstructing the movement of trains at Jethuke station for the last four days. All the farmers have booked under the Section 174 (obstruction of track) of the Indian Railway Act.

After the failure of district administration to remove the protesters from the track, the Railway is devising strategy to deal with the agitators through its own effort.

It is worth mentioning that police had stopped the 17 farmers’ organizations that were going to protest over their demands at Matka Chowk in Chandigarh on December 5.

Reacting to this the farmers held a protest at Jethuke station and blocked the rail track.

Railway Police Force Company Commander Ajay Rajpal Singh said, “A case has been lodged and the required action will soon be taken against the protesters.”
