New Delhi: The five top corporate honchos, including three Reliance officials, accused by the CBI in the 2G spectrum case were taken to Tihar jail on Wednesday after a Special Court rejected their bail plea.

Special CBI Judge of the Patiala House court, OP Saini, dismissed their bail plea saying that those five officials may tamper with the evidences and may flee to avoid prosecution.

The court had on April 15, reserved the bail applications of Swan Telecom Director Vinod Goenka, Sanjay Chandra of Unitech Telecom, and three top officials of Reliance Group -- Gautam Doshi, Surendra Pipara and Hari Nair.

The five executives, who were named in the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) chargesheet, were not arrested during the probe.

With the arrest of the five officials the number of accused held in Tihar jail has gone up to nine. Former Telecom Minister A Raja, former Telecom Secretary Siddhartha Behura, Raja’s personal secretary R K Chandolia and Swan Telecom Promoter Shahid Usman Balwa are already behind bars.
