New Delhi: With monsoon session of Parliament approaching, the BJP has pulled up its socks to create pressure on the government.

The saffron party, after the resignation of Union Textiles Minister Dayanidhi Maran, has now demanded the ouster of Home Minister P Chidambaram and Telecom Minister Kapil Sibal from the Cabinet, accusing them of alleged complicity in the 2G scam and misusing their position.

Chidambaram was the Finance Minister in 2008 when A Raja, as Telecom Minister, had allocated 2G licences violating rules and regulations.

BJP spokesperson Tarun Vijay said that Chidambaram who was then Finance Minster had misused his official position and he was as much involved in the 2G spectrum scam as the then Telecom Minister A Raja.

Referring to the Tihar Jail where Raja is presently lodged, Vijay said, “Chidambaram is as much responsible for this scam as is Raja. His place is not where he is (in the Cabinet) but where Raja is today.”

Accusing Sibal of misusing his position to give a penalty waiver to Reliance Communications, Vijay said that by terming the PIL on the issue a move to defame him, the minister has insulted the entire judiciary.

“Sibal misused his Cabinet position and took decisions against the interest of the country, hence he doesn’t deserve to be part of the ruling dispensation,” he added.
