New Delhi: In a move to tighten the noose around the nine accused in the 2G spectrum allocation scam, Enforcement Directorate (ED) is now gearing up to question them in Tihar jail.

The ED officials would submit an application in the court next week, seeking permission to interrogate them further.

“All the formalities for interrogation of the accused have been fulfilled and an application will be submitted next week in court to quiz them in the jail,” a senior ED official said.

ED will quiz the accused regarding the bribery and black money transactions under Money Laundering Act, sources said.

The ED, after the CBI chargesheet, has also decided to interrogate the other five accused who were left out when A Raja, his private secretary Chandaulia, former Telecommunications Secretary Siddhartha Behura and DB Realty promoter Shahid Balwa underwent interrogation.

The ED had also sent notices to Unitech’s Managing Director Sanjay Chandra, Swan Telecom director Vinod Goenka and three senior executives of Anil Dhirubhai Ambani Group- Gautam Doshi, Surendra Pipara and Hari Nayar, under the Money Laundering Act.

The questioning was to commence from April 18, but the accused managed to escape by citing their bail plea pending in the CBI Special Court. However, on April 19, the court sent the Sanjay Chandra, Vinod Goenka and the three senior executives of ADAG into judicial custody.
