Yogyakarta (Indonesia):  Amid a huge gathering of fans and with a warm cultural show, the second edition of the ASEAN-India Car Rally on Monday kicked off from this historic city to mark the strengthening of relationship between India and the other 10- member nations.
Hundreds of rally fans, including children, waved flags and cheered for the participants of the different ASEAN countries as they begin their 22-day journey through rugged mountainous terrain, verdant valleys, and coastal areas of the eight member countries.
In a grand ceremony held at Royal Ambarrukmo Hotel, the participants were wished all the best with a blend of cultural show, which included a brilliant rendition of Manipuri dance by an Indian group, beside a couple of Indonesian cultural performances.
Special representative of the External Affairs Ministry, P S Raghavan was present on the occasion, besides Gurjit Singh, Ambassador of India to Indonesia and ASEAN and Adi Godrej, President of Confederation of Indian Industries (CII) among other Indian dignitaries.
The Indonesian side was represented by Gusti Agung Wesaka Puja, Director General of ASEAN, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, representative of the Governor of Yogyakarta and other dignitaries.
