Jaipur: The second regiment of the surface to surface supersonic cruise BrahMos missile of the Indian army deployed on March 4 has become operational from Sunday. The regiment is deployed on the Sindh Frontier of the Pakistan border.

However, soon after the deployment of the missile regiment, Pakistan test fired its Hatf missile with firing range of 700 kilometres a day later.

According to the ‘Cold Start’ war technique, the first missile regiment is being deployed on the Pakistan border under the new strategy of the army. The firing range of the missile is 290 kilometres.

The deployment of the missile regiment amid the ongoing Indo-US joint army exercise is considered to be of utmost significance.  The experts of the Indian army and the Defence Research Organisation (DRDO) have test-fired the missile twice at Chandhan firing range in Pokhran in the past six months.
