Lucknow/Bahraich, Jan 18 (Agencies): Three Chinese nationals, including a woman, and said to be spies on a mission were arrested near the Indo-Nepal border by paramilitary personnel for allegedly sneaking into the Indian territory and taking pictures of vital installations.

Liao Xing, Yu Dangli and Yang Liu were arrested by Shashastra Seema Bal (SSB) personnel near Rupedhiya border yesterday when they were taking pictures of some important installations, Special Director General, Law and Order, Brijlal told reporters here.

A newspaper quoted SSB Commandant Devanand as saying that prima facie it seemed that they had come here as spies and that three other Chinese were held recently while taking pictures and sent to Delhi after interrogation.

An Indian PAN card, two mobiles and a camera were recovered from them, Brijlal said, adding, intelligence agencies were interrogating them.

He said the three Chinese nationals had come from Nepal and crossed into the Indian border without valid passports and visas. They were booked for illegally entering country and under the passport act.

The latest arrests came amid reports that intelligence agencies are on high alert following inputs about infiltration of six Chinese intelligence agents into India illegally through the porous Indo-Nepal border.
