Chandigarh: As many as 30,000 employees sourced from various state government departments will be deployed in carrying out 6th economic census of Punjab from next year.

Punjab Finance Secretary Satish Chandra said the arrangements for the census have been completed. He said around 30,000 employees from different departments have been assigned as census officers, supervisors and in-charge officers.

Chandra said special kits have been provided to the relevant officers for census, which would be conducted in January and February, 2013 in the state.

He was speaking at a two-day state level training programme here today, an official release said. Economic Advisor to Punjab and Additional Census Commissioner Mohan Lal Sharma said the state level steering committee has been constituted and other arrangements for the census have also been completed.

He further said for the smooth conduct of economic census, district level monitoring committees have also been constituted.

Deputy Commissioners concerned would be the chairman of these committees, who would also work in the capacity of Ex-Officio District Economic Census Commissioners.
