Chandigarh: The Punjab and Haryana High Court on Friday granted bail to four persons convicted for their role in 2008 blast in the cavalcade of Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh in Karnal district.

The bench of justices Jasbir Singh and Rameshwar Singh Malik suspended the sentence of Hoshiar Singh, Jaswant Singh, Gurinder Singh and Dharminder Singh.

Praying for the suspension of their sentence, their counsel Vijay Kumar Jindal said the allegation against the accused was that they had helped the main accused in the case.

As per the prosecution, an explosives-packed tyre was hurled at the motorcade of Dera head while he was returning after a court appearance in Ambala.

11 people, including six security men, sustained injuries after one of the vehicles burst into flames.
