Dhanbad: Eating ‘Chaat’ from a roadside vendor proved dear as  at least 49 people, including 30 children, were taken ill at Dhokhara village, about 15 km away from district headquarters on Wednesday.

Superintendent of Patliputra Medical College Hospital (PMCH) Dr Arun Kumar Chaudhary said that while 29 of them were released on Wednesday night itself, 20 of them were under observation.

Four children whose condition was stated to be critical last night were now out of danger, he said.

According to police, the affected persons had consumed 'Golgappa' and chaat from a roadside vendor in the evening. Within two hours, all of them began vomitting and complained of severe stomach pain.

Forty-seven of them were admitted at PMCH and two others at a primary health centre (PHC) at Baliapur.

A senior doctor at PMCH Dr U S Prasad said all of them were suffering from de-hydration and they were administered saline and antibiotics.
