New Delhi:  Celebrating 100 glorious years of Indian Cinema, the fourth edition of Jagran Film Festival (JFF) began at the Siri Fort Auditorium in the national capital on Friday (July 5).

While inaugurating the grand festival, Minister of Information & Broadcasting, Manish Tewari said, “Film festivals like JFF provide a huge platform for cinema lovers and bring the real India close to the entertainment industry.”

Tewari applauded the initiative of Dainik Jagran, India’s largest read newspaper, and said, “The Jagran group is doing a noble job by bridging the gap between good cinema and its intended audience. Without any commercial interest in the film industry, Dainik Jagran is realizing its responsibility towards its readers and society by organizing events like JFF.”

The Jagran Film Festival 2013 kickstarted last evening with the special screening of Vikramaditya Motwane’s Lootera starring Sonakshi Sinha and Ranveer Singh. However, the crowd was disappointed by the absence of the Dabangg girl at the event, her co-actor Ranveer Singh, producer Ekta Kapoor and Director Vikramaditya Motwane stole the show.

Ranveer Singh put the stage on fire with his macho look. The ‘Lootera’ boy interacted with the young audience and thanked them for appreciating his flick. He also thanked Jagran group for recognizing the movie.

Introducing the film, Ekta said, “Lootera is the return of intense and classic romance in cinema again."

Echoing similar views, Vikram expressed his gratitude to the Jagran group and thanked the Jagran Film Festival for screening his second film at the grand event. Notably, Vikram’s debut film ‘Udaan’ was also screened and nominated at the first edition of the festival.

The 4th edition of the JFF will cover seven states and 16 cities. Starting from Delhi, it will go on to places like Kanpur, Lucknow, Allahabad, Varanasi, Gorakhpur, Agra, Meerut, Dehradun, Patna, Ranchi, Jamshedpur, Indore, Bhopal and Mumbai. This makes it the largest film festival of India in terms of sheer geographical coverage.
