Ghaziabad: In yet another shocking incident on Thursday, a 4-year old boy died after he fell into an open drain outside his school in the Vasundhara area of Ghaziabad.

The boy’s dead body was taken out of the drain at 4pm in the evening by rescue workers. It is believed that his death was caused due to suffocation in the drain’s water. The level of water in the drain was quite higher than normal due to continuous rain in the area.

The mishap took place when the boy named Ganesh aka Sunny was returning from his school with his sister Tanu. Both study at Holy Mother Child School at sector 16 in the city. When he didn’t reach his home his parents started looking for him who was later found dead in the drain. The minor’s body was noticed when it started floating up in the drain.

According to Municipal Corporation Zonal In-charge Rohan Singh, some legal steps will definitely be taken against the persons responsible for the incident.

The incident comes close on the heels of a four years old girl Mahi’s death in a 70 feet deep borewell near Manesar in Gurgaon. Her dead body was pulled out on June 24 after 82 hours of rescue operation.

Now the big question is - Will we ever be able to stop such deaths due to carelessness of concerned authorities?
