New York, Jan 14 (Agencies): Hitmaker 50 Cent reportedly made a profit of USD 8 million after roping in Twitter to promote a company he owns shares in.

The 35-year-old star helped boost the shares of marketing company H & H Imports after plugging it on the social networking site this weekend.

"You can double your money right now. Just get what you can afford," tweeted 50 Cent.

The tweets by the rapper, whose real name is Curtis Jackson, increased his shares in the company to a value of USD 8.7 million.

It is reported that Jackson received 30 million shares in the company last October and can cash in the stock as it rises.

However, the rapper could now be the subject of an investigation by the Securities and Exchange Commission for the blatant promotion.
