New Delhi: Bringing shame to the sport of wrestling yet again, three wrestlers on Wednesday were caught for doping during the 57th National School Games, held at Chhatrasal Stadium from December 28 to January 3.

The National Anti Doping Agency (NADA) Director General Rahul Bhatnagar said, “Three samples out of 30 collected from the wrestlers have been found positive for prohibited substance furosemide, which is a diuretic.”

Bhatnagar added, “NADA had collected 81 samples from wrestlers (30), boxers (31) and weightlifters (20). The test results of samples from boxers and weightlifters are awaited from NDTL.”

Chhatrasal Stadium in-charge Mahabali Satpal said, “We are with NADA and will extend our full support to it. So far, it has not been disclosed that from which state they (wrestlers) belong and in case, if they are found guilty whether proper actions would be taken against them.”

“Effective steps should be taken to look into the matter. NADA should also create awareness about the side-effects of doping among athletes,” Wrestling Federation of India secretary general Raj Singh stated.
