Chandigarh: With a view to wipe out Polio from Haryana, 62 percent of total children in all districts of the state below five years were administered polio drops on the first day of National Immunization Day of Pulse Polio (NID) for year 2012 on Sunday in all districts of Haryana.

Under this campaign, polio drops were administered at specially set up booths. Special teams would go from home to home to administer polio drops to children in next two days.

State Health Minister Rao Narendra Singh launched the campaign in Gurgaon.

A total of 16,649 polio booths were set up. These booths were manned by more than 60000 vaccinators. About 3200 supervisors were engaged into service to ensure that no child is left un-immunized.

No case of Polio has been detected in Haryana during last two years.
