"At 11.45 a.m., a great intensity earthquake measuring 7.5 on the Richter scale was recorded by our seismograph here," Sonam Lotus, director of the local Met office, told reporters.

"The epicenter of the quake was in Nepal at a depth of 10 Km at 28.1 degrees north latitude and 84.6 degrees east longitude," he added.

The epicenter was Nepal where at least two people were killed when an earthquake measuring 7.9 magnitude struck.
