Islamabad: Eight persons were injured when a police van was targeted with a low intensity explosive device in Peshawar city of northwest Pakistan on Thursday, officials said.
The incident occurred within the jurisdiction of Hastnagri police station in Peshawar, the capital of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa province, on Thursday morning.
Eight passers-by sustained injuries and were taken to Lady Reading Hospital. The policemen in the van escaped unhurt. Six vehicles were damaged by the blast, officials said.
Police cordoned off the area and launched a search operation. No group claimed responsibility for the attack though such bombings are usually blamed on the Pakistani Taliban.
