In a study conducted by a firm, it has been found that Google’s Android finds its space in 80 percent of smartphones, which were sold in the second quarter of 2013, with the number standing at 182.7 million.

The research body also added that the rise is a remarkable boost from the number of handsets, which were sold in the same quarter last year, eventually letting Android reinforce its capability of targeting several price tiers.

In comparison, Apple’s iPhone sales took dive to a slim 14 percent during the second quarter and Microsoft stands behind it, having just 4 percent share in the overall market space.

The research firm also revealed that 34.6 million Android slates have been sold during the specific time period and it presents an impressive picture as it is more than double the 14.6 million iPads, which were sold in the same quarter.
