patna,Jan 31(Agencies): Around 80,000 lawyers across Bihar on Monday went on a two-day cease work to press for abolishing evening courts affecting the proceedings at the Patna High Court and civil courts.
" Around 80,000 lawyers across the state stayed away from court proceedings," Bihar state council evening courts special committee chairman Rajendra Prasad Singh said here.
Holding such courts introduced by Patna High Court was not possible in the state due to the lack of necessary infrastructure, he said.
The decision to cease work was taken at an emergency meeting of the committee on Saturday.
"The power supply across the state is erratic and it hampers lawyers' participation during evening proceedings," he said.
One evening court each in 30 of the 38 Districts of Bihar is functional since December 6 last year.
