Balaghat (MP): Police have recovered 89 fake currency notes of Rs 500 denomination, worth Rs 44,500 from two employees of a private bank, who have been detained.
The incident was reported by the employees of the State Bank of India's (SBI) to the police, when two employees of a private bank-- Mukesh Karkaare and Manoj Dhurve-- came to deposit over Rs 1.98 lakh in the bank on Saturday, police said.
During a thorough check, it was found that there were 89 fake currency notes in the bundles of Rs 500 denomination worth Rs 44,500, police said.
The persons, who had come to deposit the amount, claimed that they had brought the notes from the bank, in which they work. However, when the private bank said that the notes were not from their branch, police was informed about the incident.
Karkaare and Dhurve have been detained and further probe is on, police said.
