Kolkata: Expressing serious concerns over the negative impact of fundamentalism on the global society, Union Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee on Saturday warned the world against aggressive theology. He said that ill-fated incidents like the 9/11 attacks in America have become synonymous to international terrorism.

The Union Minister was speaking at the Asiatic Society where a book on Tagore was released. Referring to Swami Vivekananda's speech, Mukherjee said that the leading guru had warned the world of the danger of fundamentalism 108 years ago.

Remembering the great sons of the country, he said both the Centre and state governments had undertaken a series of programmes, both in India and abroad, to celebrate the 150th birth anniversary of Rabindra Nath Tagore and Swami Vivekananda.

He said one of the leading projects is a compilation of a web-bibliography of works on and by Tagore. Along with works by Tagore, literary criticism and other works on Tagore published in India or abroad will be included in the bibliography.
