Indore: Criticising the present faulty system of filing online passport applications and delay in the process, Madhya Pradesh Muslim Morcha (MP-MM) on Monday demanded that the Centre set up a separate passport office in Indore.
In a letter written to Union Foreign Minister Salman Khurshid, the MP-MM State President Idris Mansori alleged that earlier the passport application work was available through the Superintendent of Police office, but recently the very job was handed over to a private company which was a harassing and causing the delay in passport making.

Filing an online application form, and going through a number of bureaucratic and police formalities were causing hardship to Muslims too who wanted to go abroad to meet their relatives in Gulf and other Muslim countries on specific occasions, Mansori said in a statement in Indore.

Passport office in Bhopal deals with prior appointment with applicants, he said, adding it was not possible for every old and illiterate applicant to meet the passport office's demands every time away from their own cities, he alleged.

If the passport office is opened here, it would enable the applicants of Malwa and Nimard area to get their passport made in a hassle free way, Mansori said.

Madhya Pradesh has got only one passport office in the state that too in Bhopal, he pointed out.
