Amritsar: The Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) is likely to take a decision on building a memorial dedicated to people killed during the Operation Bluestar in 1984.
According to sources, the SGPC in its first executive meeting after holding the common assembly on December 5 will take a final decision regarding the memorial.
In a report submitted to the SGPC two weeks ago, the panel had proposed that the memorial would be built in the open area next to the Gurudwara Thada Sahib in Patiala, the sources added.
According to the proposal, close to a small room a black marble plaque with the names of the people who died in the operation would be installed.
SGPC president Jathedar Avtar Singh Makkar said, “The panel for selection of the place of the memorial has already submitted its report. The final decision will be taken only after discussing the matter in the SGPC’s executive meeting.
