New Delhi: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convener Arvind Kejriwal on Thursday alleged that Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit had been protecting the gang rape accused.

In order to substantiate serious allegations, Kejriwal said that the Chief Minister instead of suspending the Delhi Jal Board employees, accused of gang raping an executive working in a private company in the year 2006, had promoted them.

Kejriwal alleged that Dikshit promoted the accused despite Lt Governor’s opposition. Kejriwal added that the rape victim had presented several documents in this regard.

Taking a dig at Delhi CM, AAP convener said that the incident clearly reflected the dual face of the Delhi Chief Minister in handling rape cases.

According to the documents, the Chief Minister has recommended the promotion of the then Chief Engineer BM Dhal but the document clearly indicates the objection raised by Lt Governor Tejendra Khanna who has reportedly said that the promotion should be put on hold until the court accepts the closure report against the accused.

Kejriwal alleged that the government and the police have been protecting rape accused since the very beginning as they lodge FIRs in the case only after court’s intervention.

The police too tried to somehow file the closer report in the year 2010 but the court rejected it and ordered the prosecution of all the three accused.

Despite the girl requested the court to initiate prosecution against several others including BM Dhal. The court did not comment on BM Dhal.
