As a part of the government's intent to provide air connectivity to regional or remote centers, the AAI would develop airports at Meerut, Moradabad, Faizabad and new civil enclaves in the IAF airports at Agra, Allahabad, Bareilly and Kanpur, under a Memorandum of Understanding between AAI and the UP government.

The Uttar Pradesh government has already handed over the airports at Meerut, Moradabad and Faizabad to the AAI.

The state has also agreed to provide land and other logistical support for establishing the new enclaves at the military airports in Agra, Allahabad, Bareilly and Kanpur.

An official spokesperson said that the move is a part of the government's plans to develop airports in Tier-II and Tier-III cities, including the airports belonging to state governments.
