Mumbai: Aamir Khan is the latest Bollywood superstar to debut on the small screen as a talk show host. Aamir has joined broadcast major Star India to anchor a show based on social issues, which will go on air next year.

"Over the last few years, I have been approached for various TV shows, but the offers never excited me. However, this show will be a journey of discovery of change, of emotion and human story which touch and inspire our daily life," Aamir said.

The show will be broadcast simultaneously in eight languages on Star Network channels-- Star Plus, Star World, Star Majha, Star Jalsa and Asia net, among others. Further details about the show were not disclosed.

"No bollywood star has shown the ability to move the markets with experimentation as much as Aamir has done. Star India is doing a show with him to reinforce the same agenda of creativity and to come with something which is impactfull and engaging," Star India CEO Udhay Shakar told reporters here.

I won't add extra to increase TRP: Aamir

With Bollywood bigwigs like Amitabh Bachchan, Shahrukh Khan and Salman Khan already weaving magic on the small screen through various shows, actor Aamir Khan feels that his entry into television is not late and he is not running behind the rat-race of TRP.

Aamir will be hosting a television chat show, which will be based on real life stories and real people.

"I do not think my entry into television is late. I feel everything has a right time. My venture on television is not calculative. There is nervousness, but I am excited and charged up about the show. I was sure that if I am doing something on television then it has to be different...it has to be something that will connect with the audience," Aamir told reporters.

"This began as a dream three-four years ago and I am fulfilling it by doing this kind of a show. This idea came to me sometime back, but it took time for me to decide on whether
I want to do it or not. I just hope it will be successful," he said.

When asked if he is in for TRP game, Aamir said, "I can't put something extra to increase the TRP. I would rather focus on the subject and grab eyeballs. I can't think of adding anything in the format for TRPs. All I want is that more and more people to watch the show. I am sure our TRPs will be good."

The actor, however, cleared that his show is not based on the international chat show of 'Oprah Winfrey'.

Aamir's show, which will be aired on Star Plus channel early next year, will be broadcast simultaneously in eight languages. It will be produced by the Aamir Khan Productions.
About who he thinks is a better host on TV, Aamir says, "I have seen lot of hosts, like Amitji, Shahrukh, Hrithik are good and make people comfortable. I like few non-celeb hosts
also."

The 46-year-old actor said that they are still working on the title of the show.

On his knowledge about small screen, Aamir says, "I know little about television. I do not claim to have great knowledge of television. All I know is that it is a powerful medium...especially, for what I am attempting to do."

Prominent Bollywood figures like Amitabh Bachchan, Shahrukh Khan, Akshay Kumar, Preity Zinta, Hrithik Roshan, Juhi Chawla, Sanjay Dutt and Salman Khan have been associated
with television in different roles.
