Shastri, who was earlier expected to be fielded in Lucknow, will take on Bharatiya Janata Party's Shyama Charan Gupta and Congress’ Nand Gopal Gupta.

The Aam Aadmi Party, which released the names of 19 more candidates,  also said that former Chhattisgarh High Court judge Fakhruddin will take on Congress president Sonia Gandhi in Rae Bareli.

Ten of the candidates announced on Wednesday will contest in Uttar Pradesh, three in Chhattisgarh, two each in Punjab and Gujarat, and one each in Tamil Nadu and West Bengal.

With this, the AAP has announced a total of 444 candidates for the general election.
