New Delhi: It seems that the Congress is gearing up for the next general elections. This time - ‘Aapka paisa aapke haath (Your money in your hands)’ is going to be the slogan of the Congress party. The party has decided to call a meeting of district Congress committee chiefs across the country in New Delhi soon, which will be addressed by party’s ‘second in command’, Rahul Gandhi.
A member of the Congress think-tank has said that the party would fight the elections in alliance with the secular parties. “There will be a UPA 3,” the leader said on conditions of anonymity.
The Congress plans to acquire space among youths, women, the unorganised sector workers, urban and rural poor and senior citizens through the government’s flagship programmes, besides the backward castes and minorities.
Finance Minister P Chidambaram on Tuesday described the direct cash transfer scheme as a “game-changer” but dismissed suggestions that the cash subsidy was linked to mid-term polls.
