New Delhi: Social activist-turned-politician Arvind Kejriwal on Monday said that his party AAP (Aam Aadami Party) offers best possible alternative to combating rampant corruption.

Talking exclusively to Jagran Post, Arvind Kejriwal, national convener of AAP, also added that at present he is mainly focusing on Delhi Assembly elections slated for this year.

“We have decided to contest Delhi Assembly polls to be held later this year. As far as assembly elections in other states are concerned, no decision has been yet taken,” said Kejriwal.

When asked about his party’s strategy to fight corruption which has made the people squirm with grief, Kejriwal said, “People are fed-up with the present political system. AAP is the party of their choice and this is their struggle, so people have no option but to join us as there is no other effective alternative before them. What option do they have? Whom will they vote- Congress or BJP? If the people have faith in the Congress and BJP, they can vote for them but it would not bring any change in the present scenario. If they want to change the system, they should vote for Aam Aadmi Party.”

Kejriwal, who had once launched a nationwide campaign against corruption under the guidance of veteran Gandhian Anna Hazare demanding a strong and effective anti-graft law, also talked about his fight for a strong anti-corruption ombudsman law.

“Our campaign is precisely meant for ‘Vyavastha Parivarthan’ (revamping the existing system). Until the political scenario in this country remains unchanged, the people will not get rid of corruption. The next election will phenomenal with big changes all around,” said Kejriwal.

He also added, “Formation of party is just a formality and this movement is going to galvanise revolution in the next elections. All other political parties will be rooted out. This storm will start form Delhi.”
