Gandhi was attacked along with his supporters allegedly because he was protesting against booth capturing by SAD workers.

The AAP nominee has reportedly suffered injuries in the head and the vehicle in which he was travelling was also damaged.

AAP's polling agents were attacked in Patiala, Patran and Sanaur assembly segments of the constituency leaving three of them injured.

According to sources, Gandhi was attacked around 4.30 pm when he was visiting the polling station at Rasulpur Sadian village, where the Akali workers were threatening AAP members.

Following the attack, Gandhi sat on a dharna along with party supporters.

Meanwhile, the Congress condemned the incident terming it “very unfortunate”. Patiala (rural) MLA Brahm Mahindra said the attack was against the basic principles of democracy and the police should take strict action against such goons.
