Jodhpur (Raj): Seeking to resolve the confusion over a baby girl's biological parents, city-based Umaid Hospital on Tuesday expedited its efforts to get the DNA profile of the baby from the laboratories concerned.

"We spoke to the Jaipur-based laboratory to explore the possibility if they could send the report of the DNA test in 15 days, which they agreed to. But they advised us to talk to the New Delhi laboratory, where we have sent the sample for DNA test, for an expedited report the New Delhi laboratory agreed to send the report in 15 days," hospital superintendent Narendra Chhangani said.

Amicus Curie for the baby appointed by the high court on Monday, will also move an application in the CJM court requesting it to direct the laboratory to provide the report of the DNA test as soon as possible.

"Since this entire matter is dependent upon the report, we want to make sure that the report is obtained as soon as possible so that the girl could get her biological parents," Choudhary said.

The girl has been abandoned in the hospital since her birth nine days ago, and is waiting for a DNA test to identify her biological parents. She was born on the same night when another boy was born in the hospital. Two couples are fighting to claim the boy, saying the babies were switched by the hospital staff.
