Patna: The Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) said on Thursday that it was against the Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) opening a branch anywhere in the country.

"ABVP is against an AMU branch anywhere in the country including Bihar," its general secretary Umesh Dutt told the media in Patna. Dutt said ABVP had been opposing the Bihar government's plans to set up an AMU branch in Kishanganj.

The Bihar government has given 250 acres for the proposed AMU campus. The three-day 58th national conference of ABVP will be held in Patna on December 26-28.
