New Delhi, (Agencies): India’s ace boxer Vijender Singh is having a torrid time these days and is running around the Haryana government to receive the promised prize money.

Olympic bronze medallist and Asian Games gold medallist, Vijender is yet to receive the prize money promised by the Haryana government after the boxer put up dazzling show at World Championship and Asian championship in 2009.

"It has been more than a year since the prize money was announced. Both these events were held in 2009 and I have not got the money for my medals till today. It is hassle some and irritating to run from pillar to post for what is rightfully mine," Vijender said.

The boxer blames the delay on a lax system. "It is annoying. For something that has been promised to us by the government, we have to go around chasing officials," said Vijender.

His World Championship bronze entitles Vijender to Rs one lakh prize money, while the Asian Championships bronze should fetch him Rs 50,000 according to the sports policy of the Haryana Government.
