Dehradun: In the wake of serious threats from strong network of wildlife smugglers, the Uttarakhand Forest Department is mulling over issuing red corner notices against the mafia operating along the Nepal-Uttarakhand border.

State Forest and Environment Advisory Council Vice-President Anil Bluni said, “We had talks with CBI in this regard and will take all possible measures to check wildlife trafficking.”

Uttarakhand is becoming a hot spot for the wildlife smugglers these days. This will be the first time that the forest department will take help of red corner notice to curb the wildlife smuggling which involves the illegal gathering, transportation and distribution or animals, and their derivatives in the region.
